Reframing the Overlooked and Undesired
It’s my deeply held belief that when artists create, their works are a translation of how they see the world sent to the general public. In my art, this is achieved through both subject matter and materials. We should cherish everyday objects, appreciate urban animals that coexist with humans, and find beauty in all stages of life. Materials should be sustainable and as cruelty-free as is practical and possible. Through this structure I create pieces to muse on consumerism, environmental concerns, and social dynamics.
About the Artist
Hi! I’m Andi Razo (she/her). I am a self-taught mixed media artist from Chicago, IL. My current focus is on oil paintings, but I enjoy using acrylic paint, clay, and found objects (together or separately) to bring my artistic visions out of my head and into reality.
As I’ve been vegan for the past decade-and-a-half— and vegetarian long before that— all artworks are created without animal products, regardless of medium. When possible, accessories like frames or stands are sourced secondhand or built by me to cut down on use of new materials. My art is made with longevity in mind!
